Day 0: Pre-trek Briefing

If you have opted for the optional airport transfers, we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha airport and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. Pre-trek briefing at your Arusha hotel. You should be planning to arrive at least one day before the start of the trek. Today we will spend the day having a pre-trek briefing. We will also review your equipment and rent any equipment which is needed at a local shop.

Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut

Elevation: 1,500m (Momella Gate) to 3,570m (Saddle Hut)

Hiking Time: ~6–8 hours

Distance: ~14 km

After an early breakfast in Arusha (or Moshi), we’ll drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, where park formalities and registration take place. An armed ranger will join us to escort the group—wildlife sightings are common on the lower slopes, including giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and monkeys.

The hike starts through lush forest with birdsong all around. We’ll pass Mayo Falls and reach Miriakamba Hut (2,514m) for a quick lunch or break, then continue on a steep trail through heathland to Saddle Hut (3,570m), where we’ll rest for the night.

You’ll get an early dinner and a short briefing for the summit push. We head to bed early to catch a few hours of sleep before the midnight wake-up call.

Day 2: Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak – Momella Gate – Arusha

Elevation: 3,570m to 4,566m (summit), descend to 1,500m

Hiking Time: ~10–13 hours total

Distance: ~20 km

Wake-up call is around midnight. After a light snack or tea, we begin the summit ascent by headlamp, climbing slowly but steadily along a rocky ridge. The trail is steep and challenging, with narrow paths and some scrambling, but your guide and ranger will assist every step of the way.

You’ll reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) just before sunrise. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the crater below, Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance, and the vast plains stretching into the horizon.

After taking in the sunrise and snapping some photos, we’ll descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast, then continue all the way down to Momella Gate, where our vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Arusha or Moshi.

Important Notes:

This 2-day version is best for experienced and well-acclimatized hikers.

Altitude gain is fast—proper hydration, pace, and rest are critical.

You must start early on Day 1 and be ready for a long descent on Day 2.

Deposit Payment

• Deposit is 20% of the total booking amount.
• Deposit can be paid either via a bank transfer or an online card payment.
• A 5% fee is applicable on all card payments (payment gateway charges), this is non-refundable.
• We offer bank accounts in USD currencies for bank transfer.
• Once you make the advance payment you will receive a booking confirmation pdf .

Balance Payment

• Balance can be paid via bank transfer, online card payment, or with cash.
• Bank payment can be done 15 days prior to the tour date (recommended 30 days prior).
• Card Payment can be done 1 day prior to the tour date (recommended 7 days prior).
• Cash can be paid on arrival (USD printed in or after the year 2009).

Cancellation Policy

8 days and above departure

No cancellation fees.

0 to 7 days before departure

-50% of the total tour price will be charged as cancellation fees.
Trek can be postponed to any new date without any extra cost at any point in time.
The 5% surcharge paid for either or both advance and balance payments is non-refundable in case of cancellation of the trek.
